Wal-Mart announced Friday that it was shutting down 269 stores and laying off thousands of employees.
And it’s all because of e-commerce.
Wal-Mart’s competition is now guys like you and I who can offer customers a better product and a better experience.
E-Commerce is destroying the old retail store dynamic of having as many locations as possible.
Look at Amazon, they’re really just a basic e-commerce platform…
Amazon offers people an easy way to buy what they want at a low price without leaving home, and now it has the biggest players in the game finally rethinking everything.
In fact, Wal-Mart has been hit so hard that they’re actually spending hundreds of millions to expand their e-commerce presence.
The writing is on the wall: store locations are quickly being replaced by e-commerce. Amazon is #1 in the top 500 internet retailers, and if Wal-mart wants to climb back from #3 they need a new e-commerce strategy to do it.
So what does that mean for you?
Well based on Wal-Mart’s investments, it’s clear that they are chasing mobile and social marketing to bolster e-commerce sales.
That means they’re going to be using the same tools as you and I.
Think about it – Wal-Mart has cut their corner store strategy losses, closed hundreds of locations and laid off thousands of people in order to focus on marketing strategies that you can use today.
The billion dollar e-commerce industry is accessible to literally anyone, and it’s so profitable that one of the top companies in the world is doing a 180° and staking their survival on it.
If you set up your store on Shopify, all you need is the right mobile and social marketing strategy and you will be accessing millions of dollars in profit potential.
Like everything else on the internet, e-commerce levels the playing field like never before. You don’t need to invest millions and open 50 locations to be successful. You can drive millions in profits with a shoe-string budget.
The only barrier is knowledge – you need someone to be your mentor and show you how best to leverage social media and mobile marketing to drive sales for your e-commerce store.
