By now you should have read part 1 and part 2 of this series of Ecommerce blog post if you haven’t then you should probably do that now…
So I’m sure by now you clearly see why you ought to be selling your own products!
and how easy it can be if you manage it with a Birdeye view.
Before you go spending money on importing products from Alibaba.com you should first check to make sure your product is going to sell.
I actually teach my event attendees how to sell products without having inventory in stock!
You see I found that many people fail at ecommerce because they end up spending money on the product upfront
thinking it’s a good idea and it would sell. Only to find out. No one is buying their inventory.
You now have spent all this time, money and resourcing building the website, designing a logo, ordering the product.
Only to come find out.. you product won’t sell.
This is why I teach all my students how to sell the products with as little of investment
as possible. I would rather you spend money on traffic to generate a sale first then inventory and expensive webdesign.
Our goal at the event is to get a website up as quickly as possibly.. usually the store is up before the attendees even get to the event.
I have already have their site built for them using the same format I use for my stores.
Now that they have a high converting store setup… the next step is writing ads
that get people to purchase which i’ll cover more tomorrow.
I know your probably thinking..well jay that’s cool but how does someone like me have success like you.
How Can I Pick A Product That Will Sell?
- Sell Something People want
- Sell Something Trending
- Sell Something Selling
In order to keep this blog post short and keep you from getting overwhelmed.
We’ll go with picking a HOT product.
I’ll keep it simple for this blog post so I’ll give you an example that has worked for one of my personal friends and client Marcia. Marcia was a stay at home mom who was looking to sell something online.. I invited her to my event and even though she was my friend I had her pay the full price.
Why? Because I knew if I just let her in for FREE she wouldn’t take it serious and I didn’t want to be the one responsible for her success. She had to be the one responsible for her success and the way to do that was to stepping up and being uncomfortable.
We got to work before the event.. that’s how I am with all my students.. we don’t just wait for the event. We get working immediately.
First thing I had her do was look on Amazon and find a Hot Seller in a Category.. being she was a Mom she found these baby moccs.
Here’s what to do :
First go to Amazon.com and look at what’s in the HOT SELLER List.
I had her go another step and see how her product was trending on Google Trends.
Trends Look Good.
We have a potential Winner. Come to FIND OUT we did!
Here’s Marcia store now!
I teach my students how to growth hack their ecommerce stores without spending a ton of money on inventory.
In fact none of my students are buying products until we know we can actually sell them online.
So how do you get a store looking as good as Marcia’s ? Well it’s easy.
I gave her the template I used for all my stores that she could easily upload to shopify.
Alll she did was change out the images. Or you can spend a few bucks and buy them at the Shopify store.
This is why I love shopify!
