Mark my words: 2016 is going to be the biggest year for Mobile Marketing yet.
And most retailers agree with me.
According to a new study by RetailMeNot, 87% of retailers will be investing way more in Mobile Marketing this year.
This is across all retail categories, plus 3 out of 4 retailers surveyed were confident that the ROI from investing in Mobile has HUGE potential.
The reason the fire has been lit under their proverbial A$$ is because no big retailers have yet cracked mobile – except Amazon.
I’ve told you before that Amazon is the 2nd biggest online retailer in the world, only behind the Chinese juggernaut Alibaba.com
Much of that success is due to their 5 star digital marketing – especially their advantage with mobile…
Now mobile is not just for those with giant marketing budgets and billions in revenue…
In fact it is relevant to ANY campaign – if you don’t have a mobile strategy in place then you’re dropping the ball (and losing money), period.
Here are some fundamentals to get you started on crafting the perfect Mobile Marketing Strategy:
MAKE EVERYTHING MOBILE FRIENDLY
Your website should be mobile responsive (& it’s all in the HTML).
You should have a mobile app users can download easily.
Your emails should have dynamic content so they look great on mobile.
It comes down to this: If every step in your funnel isn’t mobile friendly and optimized, then your funnel simply isn’t complete.
Don’t forget this includes design – I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen an awful, pixelated page on my phone. Don’t JUST make it work – make it look good.
MAKE MOBILE PAYMENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE
If your customers can tap their epay readers to make a payment, you’ll convert like crazy on mobile.
But if you make it difficult, your mobile strategy will flop. It’s that simple.
USE MOBILE MARKETING AUTOMATION (MMA)
Marketing automation is man’s gift from the Marketing Gods – and it is just as effective in Mobile as anywhere else.
Make sure you’re targeting your marketing efforts, track performance, gather insight and automatically build your community – all the good things marketing automation does, just mobile optimized.

I’m not going to lie – I’m only scratching the surface of Mobile here.
The truth is Mobile Marketing is going to be one of the biggest tech trends in 2016 and will keep getting bigger.
Understanding how Mobile, social and e-commerce interweave can make you a TON of cash, but there’s one thing that trumps all of that…
And it’s not the tools you use, or the traffic source you get leads from, or even the price points you set for your products…
It’s a little bit more big picture than that, but as I’ve learned 100 times over – it’s the single most important thing in digital marketing.
