You’re Only 1 Mind Tweak Away From Success…

by Jay Styles on May 3, 2011

What’s up everybody,

Today I want to talk about something that I think is a huge problem with all struggling entrepreneurs today. I find it to be the biggest factor in whether you will succeed and achieve your goals or not.

What am I referring to? Mentality

Mentality is usually overlooked and very under-valued. I remember when just a few years back I was probably just like you… or in the same boat. I was buying information products and courses and the main thing on my mind was MONEY. I’m sure I was like many of you, looking for the best way I could to make tons of money in the littlest time possible. I wanted to get rich quick, have a house (or two) fit for an episode of MTV™ Cribs® and own so many cars I would have to drive a different one each and every day of the week just to keep the batteries charged!

Sound familiar at all?

While it’s ok to imagine having those nice things, it is definitely not the best way to go about reaching your goals. The most successful men and women in this world – the 1% of people that actually achieve their dreams – didn’t reach their goals by telling themselves they wanted a big house and fancy cars. No, they dug deeper into themselves to find what they truly wanted in life beyond the money and flashy lifestyle.

You see, it is important that you leave that mindset behind and focus on what you really want in life. Once you discover your true needs and desires, you will reach your goals faster than ever before. You will find yourself being more productive than you have in years. Your life will almost “come together” and you will find yourself finally headed down a road where you finally know within yourself what lies ahead.

So take a moment and ask yourself, “What are my main goals in life”?

Don’t just settle with single word goals like ‘money’, ‘mansions’ or ‘cars’. You may think that is what you want but I’m telling you, dig deeper!

If you think you want all that money, those houses and those nice cars, why do you really, truly want those things? Do you want a big empty house for just yourself? I doubt it.

Maybe you want to have a family and want a big house so you won’t feel so crowded in a smaller home?
Maybe you want a lot of money to make sure your kids can go to any college they want or never have to go ‘without’ like you might have growing up?

Maybe you want to travel and visit different countries!

Maybe you are fine with your lifestyle already and you’re just looking to create a business with enough passive income so that you can spend more time with your family.

Maybe you just want to do it because so many people have told you that you “can’t”.

Have I got you thinking yet? I bet I have.

The point I’m trying to make is that focusing on money only and not finding your true desires in life is not going to get you where you want to go.

Money is just like a vehicle, if you keep focusing on the vehicle and not on the road, how are you ever going to get anywhere?

Don’t get me wrong, money can help you out tremendously but you need to first find out what you need it for before it can help you!

Once you find out why you want it, you will find yourself on a much clearer path to getting it. Believe me when I tell you that once you know what you want in life, the money will soon follow.

Now that I have you in the right mindset, my next post is going to be talking about finding your D.I.G.

What is D.I.G. you ask?

You’ll have to wait for my next post!

Best,

Jay Styles

Jay, that hit home with me about looking for the deeper reasons to do business.
And I have recently just made 4 main reasons and printed them out and taped them to my desk just above my computer screen.
They keep me moving in the right direction.
Thanks for the insight.

Yeah.

Money by itself is a mirage.. you’ll never get there by chasing it. Money is the shadow on the tree of value we create by watering and tending it everyday.

If people focused on their core values, and core competencies and DELIVERING VALUE to the widest, *enough* money would come naturally eventually. When I say enough , not every passion is a million dollar business.

Long term accomplishments are a result of everyday goal setting and achievement.
Thanks for given us a better perspective in life.

I have a dream, too. I’m enjoying my retirement and I realized that I could not become wealthy with a j.o.b. So, after a 25-year career making over 82K in my last position, I retired to start my own internet marketing business. I simply want to supplement my pension and income to enjoy traveling and helping my three grandsons through college. Wish me the best! Thanks for the reminder. I do know what my purpose is in this life. Please come by and visit me at MyDesignerLinen.com.
